Project Description
Imagine yourself a child, scared and confused, as you're taken from your home with nothing more than the clothes on your back. You arrive at a group home where you learn you'll be living with other children and as you watch your new housemates get ready for school, you wonder what you'll be wearing to class because all you came with was pajamas.
The residents of Children's Home Society of Florida, Buckner Division often enter our care without basic necessities such as clothes and shoes to wear to school or even a pillow to lay their heads. These kids have all been removed from their homes for their safety. It happens fast and it happens at every time of day and night.
Your gift will provide emergency clothing, toiletries and personal care items to kids in crisis who enter group care with no more than what they can hurriedly stuff into a grocery store shopping bag. Some of our residents are only with a us a few days, while others stay for weeks, months and even years.
Our group care programs provide a safe, nurturing home for these children while their parents attempt to complete their court-ordered case plans to reunite their families. For some of the children, parental rights have been terminated and other permanent options are being explored.
