Project Description
Vision Is Priceless Council is dedicated to Keeping First Coast eyes healthy through the early detection and treatment of eye diseases. We provide vision screening for over 35,000 children throughout the First Coast, including over 2,000 young children in Head Start Programs.
Over 80% of what children learn during the first few years in school is gained through sight. One out of every twenty preschoolers has a vision problem that can cause permanent sight loss if left untreated. These vision problems in young children often go undetected until it begins to impact their learning and becomes more difficult to correct. Head Start programs help prepare children, from families in need, to be ready for Kindergarten. By providing free screening for these children in the Head Start programs, we can identify and treat any vision problems before it impacts their education. In addition to free screening, VIP's Cared Vision Program provides exams, glasses, and other vision treatments for those in financial need.
