I love WeGive.org - they make it so easy to make a difference. It's also nice to know that each of the organizations on here has been vetted and approved and that my donation is going straight to those in need.

Project Description

Our mission is to help parents learn to provide safe, healthy and nurturing home environments in which their children may thrive. We focus our efforts on prevention and treatment through an in-home program entitled Parent Aide which is based on research on the battered child syndrome expressed belief that move abusive parents grew up without positive role models for good parenting. The facilitator's role is to act as a mentor who assists parents by providing intensive support and information, and modeling effective parenting in their home. Continuity and consistency of service are key to success. Ideally the home visits occur one to two times per week and continue for about a year. The ultimate goal of the Parent Aide Program is to replace patterns of abuse behavior with effective skills for nonviolent, nurturing parenting.
